SGTUSMC '59 build

Well I took the plunge and bought a 59 Chevy fleetside (I read OrrieG's build thread to many times). I just closed the deal on the truck. Good news, it runs and it's all stock, 2wd with a clean title in hand. Bad news, pass side bullet is creased in some. Both pass/driver lower door hinge pockets are rusted pretty bad. It does run and stop. I paid $1800 for it. The guy's going to deliver it tomorrow.
The guy has 3 more fleetsides along with a bunch of 55-59 step sides, three 67-69 Cameros and about 5 or six 60-70 Chevy and GMC trucks. A couple 54-57 Bel aires. There about 30-40 old 1930-70's cars and trucks in this guy's yard all for sale. If it's okay with the moderators to post his number I will (I'm not affiliated with this guy other than finding his post on C/L and buying a truck). He does have a bunch of good ol tin for sale in his yard, and he's a really cool guy. I just thought I'd throw that out there for those looking for tin.
This is the only pic's I have of the truck via C/L. I'll post pic's once he drops it off.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build

Sarge, What's your plan for this truck? Similar to the GMC, or are you going an entirely different direction?

As an aside, I've posted this picture of a largely stock but detailed out 292 straight six because...well, I LOVE how it looks. I'm hoping it inspires someone with a new build. My truck already has a 350 that runs great but I am still tempted to find a 29 just to do this and hold onto it. Maybe if you decide to go inline this will give you ideas.

Welcome to the 4 holer side! LMK if you can't locate a reasonable bed side down there, I think there are a couple floating around here on CL now and then and I know some TF guys. So what's the theme this time???

I've got a 4.3 v-6 for mine but would give it and an eye tooth if I could find a 292 like that!

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build

Okay my pig has finally arrived. Thanks guy for allowing me to join the 4 holer club. I'm not sure which way I'm gonna take this truck. I was thinking about going stock, however, my wife really likes it. She was bumping her gums about a pink and off white ratrod...lol

The guy's name is Mike Blackburn (661) 303-9812 (that's in Bakersfield Ca). Like I said the man has a lot of old tin. I asked him again today if it was okay to post his name and number, and he said it was fine, and to mention he gets new tin weekly.

Do you happen to know if he has any 55-59 big window cabs? I just need a cab, or even half of one! I'm have'n a hell of a time finding one for my project.

I did see a big window cab sitting on a frame. He was talking to a guy about a bed or swapping out a bed. I wasn't paying to much attention. I was scoping out some of the cars. You should contact him and see what was the deal with it. Or what he might be able to get.

Thanks Nick, Yeah I guess this will the wife's bomber. I'm just so happy I don't have to try and do a car. I'm hopeing I can get this truck done. I just don't really have it in me anymore. I'm kinda kicking myself now for picking it up.

Sure you still have it in ya; lets just call it a long term project.

Should be a good project. Do you still have the LS7? Drop that in there and do an air force theme that way it can be a real bomber! Seriously, hope you find enough energy to do this one as nice as the other truck.

Google Project-57 by Hot Rod Jim's.
It is a high tech build - WWII air force themed 57 build.
