Trick Flow New Head Fuelie Head

Wondering if anyone is using these:

https://www.enginelabs.com/engine-te...ds-trick-flow/

https://www.trickflow.com/parts/tfs-30210006

They seem to be a good alternative to some other modern offerings, bringing the small block back to a new level yet keeping everyday driving working well.

On the marketing side was wondering if there are any flaws like cooling issues, install problems, or anything you did not like.

Re: Trick Flow New Head Fuelie Head

I went old-school with mine. I wasn't concerned about restoration-grade part numbers matching and so on. I just wanted them to look the part, function, and fit like the old 1970 LT-1 camel hump heads. But at the time I did mine these TrickFlow heads were not out yet, so I had to search out vintage parts and hope for good enough cores. After a couple of false starts and some good luck, I spent a bunch and got some great quality cores and excellent machine work done. It runs great and I'm happy with what I have.

BUT... If these had been available when I started I probably would have gone with them. On my next project I'd probably pick these. I'll listen in on the following conversation and see if it will change my mind. :-)

That is exactly what I have been thinking. Real world experience tells me differently.

Do they hold the alternator, Power steering and exhaust manifolds. Exhaust Manifold bolts are notorious for loosening up. I could just see trying to keep cast iron accessories bolted up loosening up and then stripping the bolt holes out.

Granted there is ways to deal with this issue, Real World run time on a daily driver is something completely different.

Aluminum heads have been run on daily drivers for decades. They aren't inventing anything new and ground breaking, they are just offering another variation of what they've been doing all along. Nothing to be afraid of.
