Bend In Frame???

What is this bend in my upper frame rail on the passenger side I'm pretty sure its factory as I've seen it on many other trucks however cant find any information on what it is and why it is bent.

Good question… Fuel pump R&R space ? all my frames have the same bend. As far as work space …Kinda like throwing a hot dog down a hall way

I think it was intentionally put there for added strength like a bead roll. Must have had excessive flex in that area. The general didn't do it for nothing.

when was the first 292, 63 or 64? do the 60-62 have this? my 61 k10 doesn't. did the later k10 frames have this? just wondering.

My 1966 has that bend as well. Looks like it was normal, from the factory.

My 1964 k10 has the bend
