Damn near all the glazing/sealer fell off when I washed the truck last week. I see some cracking in the sealer on underside on rail in door jamb now too.

Looking for suggestions on something I can treat the lapped seam with to prevent/slow Dow down further corrosion before I apply new sealer to top side of rail.

I'd use a wire brush to get out all the rust and old sealer, and then brush on a couple coats of POR-15. Then scuff the POR-15 after it dries and use this seam sealer. Be sure to read the instructions or watch SEM's video. You can actually paint over it immediately. It's available in 4 colors.

I use what I call the suicide wheel to remove the sealer. I am going to use dental pics to pull the sealer out of the seams the suicide wheel wont get to. For sealer I like 3m 08308.

And for anyone that doesnt know why I call them a suicide wheel....be careful with these, they will straight eat you up if they get ya.

Thank you both for the info. I’ll order some sealer today.
I’ve used those wheels before but never heard them called suicide wheels before. Definitely don’t wanna wear loose clothing while using it.

Order the self leveling seam sealer. 3M sells it and it smooths out very nice.

Self levelingseam sealer,tape ends to hold excess ,put small amount on ,brush in with acid brush for better adhesion then put second coat for look remove tape on ends when sealer starts to tighten up,hope that helps.

That's very good advice for sharp, crisp borders.

Put tape on top of drip rail lip, and then on the roof at same height as drip rail. Remove the tape before the seam sealer starts to set up. Read the instructions!
