Just a photo that my neighbor took of my truck the other day. Thought it was a nice shot, and decided to share. What you can't see by the pic is that the truck just died - shut down with no warning. I'm off shot grabbing the tractor to pull it back onto my property. Fortunately it was just a bad module in the distributor - but aggravating nonetheless. Anyhow - here you go

Nice looking truck.

Like the Spoke Wheels.

A "bad module" ?

Did someone switch it to an HEI ?

Yes - I changed it over to HEI earlier this year. Hope I dont regret it. For the most part, it runs and drives great. Glad it failed off the main road - gave no warning - just died.

That's how HEI modules do. Mine have always failed suddenly no warning ...though once in a while they will give a muffler busting backfire on the first attempted restart.

Re: 70 C60 photo

Greywuuf, I installed a new module from performance distributors, so I bought a quality one. Fearing blowing that one too, I added a quality 3M thermal grease. Much thicker, white grease than the clear stuff that came with module. I also added some additional grounds to ensure that wasn't a contributing factor - new ground from battery to engine block, new strap from block to frame and one from battery to body.
I dont know if any of it will make a difference, but I didn't want to take a chance. I've only driven about 100 miles since installing it. Fingers crossed.

Thats a great looking truck. When you converted to HEI, did you replace the wire going to the BATT terminal of the coil? If not, the small resistor wire originally setup for points will cause premature failure of the ignition module in the distributor by overheating the module. I've converted points to HEI before with success just by removing the wire from an engine harness from a truck with HEI and swapping it in place of the resistor wire in the truck.

Re: 70 C60 photo

Thanks for the input MJN. I rewired the truck with a American Autowire kit before putting in the HEI. If I recall, the harness was set up for an HEI, but I will double check it. I hope to avoid it happening again
