Questions on 16 inch Ford wheels that fit C20s

I’ve heard reference here on the boards to a 16 inch Ford wheel that will fit our three-quarter tons. I’m looking for a 16 x 7 or 16 x 8. Does anyone know the original application of these wheels so I know what to look for in a junkyard? Possibly an Accuride number if I purchase new? Are these wheels a straight bolt on ( lug studs and wheel center same? ) and will take the original hubcaps from my 69 C20?

Thanks,

Steve weim55 Colorado

Re: Questions on 16 inch Ford wheels that fit C20s

When I got my 71 C20 it had split rims on it. I was given a set of 16 in Ford wheels off a 90’s truck, not sure exactly what model but they fit perfectly caps too.

Do you know what size those wheels are, 16 x 7?

Thanks,

The Ford Accuride wheels are 16x7

Dorman reproduces them if you can't find a used set

Re: Questions on 16 inch Ford wheels that fit C20s

Most every 90’s E350 in the junkyard will have them. LKQ has Monday madness wheel sales sometimes and they are $10 each then. They are 16x7, fit perfectly, and accept dog dish caps. I run them on my 72 k2500

Re: Questions on 16 inch Ford wheels that fit C20s

Ford 8-lug wheels have a bigger center bore making them not hub centric when on the Chevy truck. The junkyard by me has plenty of 8-lug Chevy rims that fit best.

Re: Questions on 16 inch Ford wheels that fit C20s

I bought one 16" wheel at a local wrecking yard that came off a 2000 Suburban. It fits the bolt circle and has the same size hole for the hub. I don't know if a hub cap fits, but the wheel does bolt up. I also did not measure the width, couldn't tell you why. They nicked me $$ for it. I needed it to be sure I had a spare when we went camping a year or so ago, and driving 30 miles for a cheaper wheel seemed to be stupid, at the time. The new tires I bought a couple of years ago will age out before they have too many miles on them. I'm thinking that maybe I could work out some sort of trade with somebody, where they can use up the rest of the rubber before mine go bad. The thing about rubber now is that tires are only claimed to last 5 years, and by that time, the warranty has expired, even if they have plenty of tread.

Re: Questions on 16 inch Ford wheels that fit C20s

My 16x7 F250 steelies came from a junkyard a few years ago. I had them powdercoated and mounted with 255/85 Coopers. Never gave a thought to them not being hub-centric. I have run at least two other sets of wheels with larger hub openings and never had a problem. Once you snug up those eight lugs, nothing is going to move around.

Re: Questions on 16 inch Ford wheels that fit C20s

Only the factory wheels were hubcentric. All your aftermarket wheels for 8-lug: aluminum slots, Kelsey Hayes 9.75s, turbine style, Jackmans/wagon wheels, Outlaw IIs, saw blades, AR23s, d-hole, Barts, all of them, were lugcentric. All Dodge and Ford 8-lug wheels fit GMs right up until they bumped their heads and went halfass European on us by going to a metric pattern that is so dangerously close to the SAE pattern, that has existed since the wheel was invented, it only serves to offer a seriously dangerous situation. You can't "see" the difference between 6 1/2" pattern and 170mm. If the wheels are from before '96 or so, no problem. But in the '90s better check. The Vans stayed SAE but the hubcap nubs were dropped on the latest years. As far as SAE Pattern Ford E & F 250/350 16 x 7 steel wheels go, you need to look for the Accuride stamp. No stamp = halfass metric

Damn. I better check my spare wheel again. Seemed like it fit OK, when I tried it. It's an obvious ~3/16" difference, but I only put it on the rotor, I didn't put the nuts on.

Is LKQ a wrecking yard chain? Not sure I’ve heard of those here in Colorado?
