72 long bed floor replacement alternatives

Are there other long bed floors that come close to replacing the floor of a 72 Chevy.
My truck is going to a welder next week for cab floors and supports up front and I need a new floor for the bed also. He said he might be able to figure something out, but before I dump alot of money into his idea, I'd either find a junk yard bed that I could use for him to fabricate or go with a new one at $1000.
Thanks for any info.

if you dont mind it not being factory, you can get a 6ft wide x 98.250, cut out for your fender wells, drill your holes and you have a brand new bed, I am going to do this out of 1/8" diamond plate, the sheet goes for ~330.00 better than a grand.

Re: 72 long bed floor replacement alternatives

I am going to look into two choices, a local company here makes alot of replacement parts and they have new cross sills that are supposed to fit over the originals, but they also have new ones to, also looking in my LMC catalog, I had a guy tell me that those road sign posts are nearly the same dimension, I plan on the diamond plate floor and that means I might have to make up some heavy washers depending on where the carriage bolts go down thru, cant remember is they hit the high or low spot, either way the diamond plate is the cheapest way to go, that dimension is a special order, but a local company here can do it.

you may want to look into a 73+ bed floor, seems to be a lot more of them around. I have seen people use them on swb trucks, but I don't know if the lwb are similar. I will see if I can find the link to the thread.
