donor hood needs some work

My 63 came with examples of rust at all four corners of the hood. I found an affordable donor that is in great shape rust wise but some bumps at the center front. My plan is to take the bracing/super structure out from these area as well at all other areas of the hood so I can treat with epoxy primer,, does anyone have any advice as to how to go about this Thanks

Re: donor hood needs some work

it may just be me but I wouldn't even attempt to remove those....to much risk for getting it out of alignment when trying to put it back together...I'm assuming your referring to the "crossmember" that the hinges and hood latch attach to and the front to back strips...

Re: donor hood needs some work

Post some photos of the underside of the hood overall, and then some close ups on where it is welded to the skin along the sides, front and rear.

Only then we can discuss how you could do this or if you should do this. I am big into separating parts like this, but as mongocanfly said, this is a toughie!

Re: donor hood needs some work

yep..put up some pics of the dents...if theyre not to bad you might could cut a small hole in the cross brace and knock the dent out from the backside ...then weld the hole up without removing the brace...but it would help to see what you got...you might also get in contact with a bodyshop that has a stud dent puller and let them pull the dent for you
