Frame questions

i found a rolling chassis and the guy wants $1500 for it! it has to be 71-72 as it looks to have disk brakes. it is a swb chassis with no title.
the questions are: is this a bit much on price?
where do you find more chassis to compare prices?
anyone have a lead on a k10 frame?
I have a 67 swb small window that someone put on a 73-80s 4x4 frame and cut the fenders to fit, not the route i want to go! I have a donor escalade i was going to swap everything but Im have second thoughts! tia

Re: Frame questions

If it’s a 4x4 frame I’m not that surprised. Thats kinda steep for around here but not out of the question. The 4 wheel drive frames are lots harder to find and when you do find them they seem to be more likely to be beat up.

Re: Frame questions

Sounds a little high at 1st but if you stop to consider you already have all your brake parts and a 5 lug rear and it is a shortie. I have seen them from 500 on up and they are headed up, as is anything that is factory short. I don't know what route you are going and like above, don't know if it is a 4x4 frame. Either way there are some saleable parts on it if you do decide to use your running gear.

Re: Frame questions

tutone great point that adds to the thought process for sure!! I would really love to find a k10 chasssis! i may stick the origonal plan of using the firewall, floor and chassis from my 06 escalade. that would make it awd with full modern suspension and hydro brakes.

Re: Frame questions

If that rolling chassis dont have a running motor with a shifting transmission then yes, way to much money especially with no title!

Re: Frame questions

I think you are paying a premium for the SWB.

In my area a LWB frame is going for around $500 asking price. SWB in the same condition goes for around $1800 - 2200 (asking price).

Same thing is true for beds.
