Would you re-use these?
I bought a used short block from a co-worker. Was used in a dirt track car and was told it only had a couple seasons on it. Tore it down to find what I think is a fairly good set of speed pro H631CP30 pistons. They have a couple scuff marks on them, but nothing that if you ran your finger nail across it that you can actually feel it. Here are some pic of the ones I thought were the worse. Would you re-use them???
I still plan to re-ring them, check piston to wall clearance, and give the cylinders a light hone. This isn't a real high-end build, if I make 375-400hp at the crank i'll be happy. |

Re: Would you re-use these?
yep , seen it before .There are a lot of dirt track cars in east Tn. If they pass the nail test and don't reach the oil ring ,can't be seen on any of the ring lands and can be cleaned up using 1000/1500 grit ,dirt track conditions ,hot fuel , valve train contamination , check the bottom of the cylinder walls for "crud" accumulation . Clean them all up dingle berry hone and rock and roll , if you notice anything into the ring lands turn them into ash trays

For two seasons of roundy roundin in the dirt those pistons look good! That must have been a well built motor, good score!
