Rear window crank/lock question.

Just picked up a '78 K5 (pics to come) and the rear window doesn't roll up, but the lock cylinder is missing. I was wondering if the roller doesn't work without the cylinder, as I know some of the older SUV and Wagon rear rollers have the "free" position.

Re: Rear window crank/lock question.

Is it power? My Manual crank CUCV still works up and down without the cyl.

I just pulled a regulator and lock from a pwr Blazer, When I unsrewed the cable from the motor I was able to raise and lower the regulator by hand turning the cable with my fingers (glass was removed). A cordless drill may work with the window still attached to at least get it back up if thats what your after until you get a lock.

Anyone know if the lock is recodeable to a different key?

Re: Rear window crank/lock question.

I had to replace the lock cylinder on my rear window, I had a local locksmith fix it to match the door locks.

Re: Rear window crank/lock question.

Manual Crank. Previous owner used it as a "pickup" plywood/plexiglass divider and all. Haven't had a chance to look into it, as I've been busy getting it road worthy.
