I think my favorite two-tone has to be blue and white.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Hi. I really love these trucks so I could find no reason not to join.
I grew up in my Dad's 73 Cheyenne Super and Mom's 84 Burb, and have been buying/selling and wrenching on them ever since.

You guys have some nice trucks!
I guess I'm one of the few who prefer long beds over short.

Here is my baby, a 77 with a 55 bed and some other kustom stuff.
It has shackels and I moved the hangers on the rear, I should have done a
4 link for air ride, or at least a flip kit.
Front is 2" DJM drop spings that ride much better than the Big 10 springs, and
DJM 3" drop spindles that I don't like because I had to grind them to make
rally wheels fit, and now I scrape the ground with the headers and
crossmember more than I can stand.

I'll post some more long bed pics, most of my buddies have one, and there is
at least 10 of them (not including mine) in my neighborhood, and
I'm trying to get un-molested Cheyenne Super or Silverado to restore,
because only the frame and cab on my 77 is original.

Nate.

Here's my '85 K20. Not too beutiful, yet, but she takes me anywhere I'm brave enough to point her. This is my long term project/daily driver. As soon as I get a couple necessary repairs done, I've got Hooker Headers to be installed.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

I found one more. My neighbor takes pictures for me because I can't keep a camera working, and he puts the pics on cds, so I have a mess of cds do dig through lol.

I've got black wheels back on it now, but the front is up in the air until I
figure out what kind of drop spindles will work with aluminum 15"s.

Well, here's my 2 cents worth, hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoy showing it. Been in the works 2 years now. Still accessory stuff to do and a wet sand and buff. That will wait till spring, to cold nowjim

The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Hey there, I stumbled across this site on Google and looked around, figured I might as well join in on the fun.

Well, here's my truck. The basic details are in my signature. The engine is a crate from GM with about 30,000mi. on it. The truck has new cab corners, rockers, Texas bed, and a new front bumper. The only mods I've done so far is an Alpine headunit, homemade bed mat, and an aluminum diamondplate toolbox. Future mods include:
- New wheels, has 16.5's on it now. Trying to get some 16's from a Dodge or newer Chevy.
- Audio upgrade with Sony Xploid 600W amp powering 2 12" Cerwin Vegas subs and 2 6.75" Mid Bass speakers.
- CB radio. I have a Texas Ranger TR-966 40ch. Dual Sideband.
- New grille.
- Cab visor and clearance lights.

Okay, here's the pics.

Thanks. It's a really nice truck for only $2,000.

The color, I'm not 100% sure of it, but I looked up the factory colors from 1980-1982 and it looks darn close to Tangier Orange. Sometimes it looks red, other times it looks orange. But, I know for a fact that it's been repainted because under the dash pad (another thing that needs replaced) it looks like a Chevy Engine Orange, so who knows. I did find a factory color on a friends truck that I like. It's called Mahogany. It's a brown metallic. I'm going to go see him tomorrow, so I'll get pics of his and post'em here to.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

I can't get these out of my head.
I think my 73 may get painted this color. I think this is factory Spring Green
and Frost white, but the first one looks more lime green.
SWEET.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

that is a nice color, i like the 2 tone, but not the white roof. not sure why chevy did that. even my friends truck i don't care for the cream roof. his was orange and cream. i like the long bed with the big chrome wheels. it's almost like the 2000 VW cyber green i was gonna paint my nova with. i chose white because it was gonna be my first paint job and i wanted to learn.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Mine. It's an '87 GMC Wrangler. It's the third one i have owned, same color and everything. This one is the nicest tho, hence me keeping it :-) It is a full load truck in almost mint shape. A new 350 chipped engine was in place when i bought it. I have since installed:
a new tranny
TBI spacer
Dual exhaust (Edelbrock shorty headers soon to come)
Lowered it alot (rear bagged now, soon to be fully w/ FBSS)
rear sport bumper
tailgate insert (soon to be blazer style w/ handle flip)
SS wheel well trims
old school clear corner and tail lights
Billet phantom grille
Rims and tires, Summer 17's winter 15's (they change often)
Custom rear window curtains (by my mom lol)
Alarm/Remote start
Panasonic CDP was in when i bought it but i added an MTX amp and
two 10" subs
Mini grant steering wheel
...Many other little bolt on's
As of right now it's a long, mean, loud, head turner, and only gonna
get badder (as money allows ofcourse)

Anyway, it was suggested to me that i add my LWB to this thread so here it is. I added a lil info as some of you like to know what was done. Some of the pic's i provide, look alot different (mainly heights and wheels). If anyone has questions please feel free to PM me rather than cluter up this thread. Thanks.
