vibration question: 72 k20

'72 k20 w/4"lift

had a couple of vibrations when going over 60 mph.

first would happen once I went over 60 mph,
then when letting off the gas, there was a different vibration until I got down to about 55 mph.

first vibration was taken care of by new tires/wheels, and a new tie rod end/alignment.

second vibration is still there.... just between 55-60 while decelerating.

thoughts?

Re: vibration question: 72 k20

check the splined slip yoke on the front of your driveshaft. your describing my truck almost spot on, i had a vibration from 45-50, then over 60... found 3 bent wheels. also had a vibration on deceleration from 65 down to 50 so i took the driveshaft to a driveline shop.. he inspected it and found the slip yoke to be worn VERY bad... he said that was causing it, but i cant gaurentee it because i have yet to have it fixed... the guy told me it would cost about $200 for both sides of the slip yoke, and welding and balancing the shaft.

Re: vibration question: 72 k20

well, it's over 2 years later, and I finally got a new driveshaft

the splines on the slip were worn as predicted. it finally started to get worse..

new shaft has lifetime spicer u-joints ( 1350 ) and the tube is slightly smaller diameter with greater wall thickness. the same tubes they use for the pulling trucks...

sounds like a good excuse for either a big boom, or alot of tire spinning when you're pulling someone from the ditch
