Bracing cab prior to floor repair

Hello all,
I have a question about adding additional bracing prior to cutting out old floors, cab mounts, and floor supports. Are there specific locations that square tubing should be attached in order to keep the cab square when replacing panels? Is there anything wrong with using existing bolt holes and bolting the bracing in instead of welding it? I have searched the Internet to see how others have done it but it doesn't seem like any two people have done it the same. Is there a blue print out that shows the best locations to attach bracing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Bracing cab prior to floor repair

I wouldn't bolt it. It could move a tiny bit. I cross braced and welded, side to side and front to back. Once you cut the welds, they are very easy to clean up and you'll never see them when finished. I know the pix will load sideways, shot with an old cell phone... Sorry...

Re: Bracing cab prior to floor repair

Here's how I did mine. A pillar to A pillar, A pillar to B pillar, and across to other side and the same there. Then I welded 4 uprights to the floor so nothing could move. After I cut the rockers out nothing moved at all.

Thumbs up Re: Bracing cab prior to floor repair

Thanks for the pictures and advice! With the bracing in place, was there room to test fit the doors to check the gaps?
Thanks again!

Re: Bracing cab prior to floor repair

Weld the tubing on the inside of the pinch weld and the doors will close. And make sure the tubing is high enough off the floor, about a foot, so you can get your grinder/cut off and welder nozzle in there to do the repair.

Re: Bracing cab prior to floor repair

Has anyone had an experience where there were not enough supports welded in or they were welded in the wrong locations and the cab twisted? If this should happen, is the cab repairable?
