I think it was the great Billy Connelly who said there are 2 seasons in Scotland, June and winter . Sadly North East England isn't much better.

Good luck with the hood (I remember painting mine), painting a C10 hood will be broadly equivalent to painting your whole Morris Minor !!

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler

The great Billy Connelly's words were ringing in me ears, today of all days, for another reason. It was he who said of politicians: "don't vote for them, it only encourages them"!

Never a truer word spoken, other than (and again I heard it first from Mr Connelly) "how do you know a politician is lying? Their lips are moving!"

Prophetic if you ask me!

Anyway enough of politics from a man who knows nothing about it, yes that hood is going to use up a LOT of paint! Still not figured out how I'm going to paint it yet. Going to take a bit of planning!

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler

I know what you mean, with these hoods everything is a 2 man job. I prepped mine on a couple of saw horses and then knocked up a really simple frame to hang it on for paint, it worked a treat

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler

How did you paint the underside?

I was thinking of hanging it from the garage roof so I could paint the inside and outside at the same time.

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler

I painted the underside while it was on the tressles before I hung it on the frame, turned it over on loads of padding, I removed the bolt in braces before painting the underside but re-fitted them before I hung it up to paint the outside.

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler

Work is progressing on the hood. Got it all sand blasted last weekend and started pumping out and filling all the dents and dings and repairing the little rust damage.

I'm hoping to at least have it in primer by the end of the weekend.

Also finally got the pedal assembly put back together.

Had to completely repaint it after I managed to get overspray on it when I was painting the T-Tops off the Vette!!!!!

With a it of luck I will get the pedals installed this weekend meaning I should be able to fit the nice new shiny steering column soon making it a lot easier to move the truck up and down the drive

So while I was waiting for filler to harden last night I decided to strip the old auto shifter off the transmission cover.

Only after I looked at it closely did I discover a PO had welded it in place.

Whats so surprising about that I hear you say? Well he had first gone to the bother to drill all the mounting holes in the cover?!?!?!?!?!

Even putting a screw in one corner

Go figure!

BTW what other picture hosting sites do others use? I'm sick of Photobucket! And I typed this before I previewed the post only to get the above messages!!!! I'll sort this out and edit it ASAP.

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler

Turns out I have an Email from Photobucket this morning telling me I need to update my account to get 3rd party hosting again. They want $399.00!

Did a quick search on the internet and it seems this is correct. New terms! Well the answer to Photobucket comes in the form of two words and the 2nd is OFF, as in they can!

Not sure what has happened to Photophukit recently but someone is certainly trying to kill the company off. And they hold us all to ransom through our memories.

Fortunately I don't store my pictures there, I only copy them there so I can post on the like of this forum. But I, obviously, wont be using them again.

Our of interest Rian, can you see my earlier pictures or have they all vanished? I cant see any on my thread.

That's Bollocks!

Well I'll find another system but I'm not rebuilding 20 pages.

I may start Super Duper Haggis Hauler II - The Awakening!

Why post using a third party sight? Why not just download them from your computer?

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler

When ever I have had problems it had to to with file type or size. When I take photos with my phone it saves the file as a .jpg and at a good size. It might also have to do with trying to download your photo from a photo program rather than a raw file that is just sting in a file folder instead of being stored in a program like I-photo.

I believe you must be a paid member of the forum to be able to upload from your computer........costs you $25.00 USD a year to be a paid member. This also helps support the forum.
