2018 Silverado 5'8" bed to the Ocho
I have the short short bed truck, and I wish I could of gotten a long bed. I need to keep the crew cab because my personal life demands I sit 3-4 people regularly. I do not want to swap out trucks for the 6.5 bed since they are fairly rare, and I would have to order one to get the WT package I love. Plus a 2500 is to much for what I do. Then I am not a fan of the new 19's.
Has anyone cut into these new trucks? I know they feel very stiff compared to the Square bodies I love a lot. Plus they have can carry quite a lot so the frame should be quite good. From what I have gathered the frame I have seems to be as strong or slightly stronger then the C30 frame. Even though the payload capacity is very different. Mostly due to the better axles I don't have that a 1 ton would. Right now I am on disability due to tearing my knee up pretty good, and I have been picking up stuff for my friend to pass the time. Plus a few bucks spending money. So between doing fishing trips, and hauling stuff. I wish the bad was a 8 footer so it would be easier for me to sleep in the bed. I am either thinking extend this truck or get a cclb square body down the road. I just really like the ride, mpg, and performance of the new truck. Even though the USS Nimitz would be able to turn inside of me. I still would like one for personal reasons. |

How tall is everyone? I have a 2015 shortbed double cab and anyone around 5'10 and shorter fits pretty comfortably in the back seat. Any taller and it starts getting cramped fast.
I didn't get a crew cab for the reason you posted above, the 6.5' CC's are hard to find, and they're also $$$.

Re: 2018 Silverado 5'8" bed to the Ocho
My mom is 78, and my aunt just turned 80. While both can get along quite well. They both hated the quad cab I had as a rental a couple years back before I got the truck.
I drive typically 10-12K miles a year so I bought this as a 10 year vehicle. Plus I do car camping with my son. I work in HVAC field as a service tech. So summer vacation is not going to be very long. So I leave after work, and just sleep in the back to start fishing as early as possible. Just something the crew does a 100 times better for me. Which is also why I didn't go for the Colorado either. |

Understood. I've ridden in a 2015+ CC, they feel huge compared to my DC.
Keep your truck and build that squarebody crew cab. The reg cab shortbeds have gone nuts in price, but the CC's can still be found reasonably priced.
