Lower a couple Inches

What is the best way to lower the stock suspension on a 1958.

Was considering new leafs that would drop it a couple inches. Any cheaper methods i could do for a short term option.

Re: Lower a couple Inches

New leaves and or a dropped axle on the front would be the correct way.

On the rear you might be able to remount the spring hangers a couple inches higher on the frame and drop the truck that way with no expense more than time and some bolts. I say may as I am not sure how much room is there.

Someone is no doubt going to say remove leaves from the springs and while it is easy and gets the truck down once you do that the truck keeps going down until the springs won't collapse any more if you remove too many leaves. That's my personal experience on my truck from doing a quick and nasty leaf removal to lower the truck for what was going to be to take it to a few shows and then tear it apart and put an independent under it. 27 years later it still has those collapsed leaves under it as life got in the way. Sits low but terrible ride and handling.

For 300 you can get a dropped straight axle
