Ls mounting height

Okay I've been contemplating a few different options on mounting my 5.3, the motor came out of a 03 Tahoe and I was wanting to use the same motor mounts if I could to avoid buying different ones. I mocked up a bracket to weld to the frame but the engine is sitting a little high. I don't mind the height because my ac will fit without notching the frame, and I can't go much lower because the mounts will hit the frame themselves..

Now my question is.. will I run into any problems as I continue with the motor this high in the bay? Such as drive shaft angle, balance issues, or anything else
I know I will have to have a slightly bigger tunnel through the cab but I'm not too worried about that..

Pictures below, this is my first build and I'm just learning as I go from this site and the help from a few others who have done some rat rods/muscle builds so any advice is welcomed

Oh and it's an s10 frame,
Nothing is permanent yet just tack welds. Only way to fix the height at the moment is buy new motor mounts with custom frame mounts. Just trying to get opinions. Suspension will be bagged with a 4 link

That looks very high in the bay for some reason..how much clearance is between the engine and crossmember? You could leave it that way as long as you keep about a 3 degree downward angle..you'll just have a bigger tunnel but you already know that..
If your on bags you'll want to be sure and not get the oil pan to low

Re: Ls mounting height

Yes the oil pan is sitting flush with the crossmember, that was another positive about this.. not having to buy a new oil pain. I'm sitting 3" above the cross member with the bottom of the engine. I've just never seen any engine sitting this high yet so I'm a bit concerned it not right, but I can't find many issues with it and why other ls swaps don't sit higher instead of relocating the ac or notching the frame.

Re: Ls mounting height

Fit my fenders and hood on with the engine this height, still no issues with any clearance.. I'm about to finish the welds this afternoon on the motor mounts unless someone has a reason I might run into problems

Re: Ls mounting height

Like mongo said just make sure the pinion angle matches the angle of your engine and you're good to go.

Re: Ls mounting height

how high is your body mounted off the s10 frame? meaning, add up how much the mount sticks up and any rubber thickness and report back. if you have 2" tall mounts that looks like a normal tunnel. if you have 6" tall mounts, your motor is really up there.

Re: Ls mounting height

I wanted a lower ride so the cab is about 3.75 off the frame

Re: Ls mounting height

hmm is seems like that motor is really high. a good rule of thumb is to put the bottom of the oil pan slightly higher than the bottom of the front crossmember. the mounts on my last truck were 3" and I barely had any tranny hump at all.

Re: Ls mounting height

If you had the stock frame I'd say that the line drawn through the crank should match where the original crank sat. That keeps driveshaft angles and what not within the perimeters.

With that setup I'd say that as long as you don't have to make a big tunnel to clear things life is good. With the floor that high you should have plenty of room.
