Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?

Yes they are flush. They are just welded in, still have to do a little mud work around them.

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?

I went with 58-59 chevy lenses and stainless bezels on my 60-66 stainless cups. I like the polished bezel better than the 63 plain red lens w/o bezel

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?

I have the same 58-59 chevy lenses and stainless bezels only I used the 58-59 cups. I love the tail light sticking out. I just wish I could figure out a way to run the wires thought the bracket that are holding them on or even adding cadillac tail tight lenses to the cups.

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?

I believe the cups are the same. I didn't have to do any mods to put the lenses and bezels on. Just 2 screws and went in the same as the 60-66 lenses. They do make a stainless steel conduit that looks pretty good. I have never used it though.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, here are fleetside lights that I put in my fenders back in 1984.

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?

38 Zephyr LED lights, home made bracket. I was going to mount them on the rear fender then thought about all the drivers that are texting and not driving, decided to put them above the round OE lights. 3rd brake light is LED so Toad lights up real nice. Yup, I'll take off the round ones when the LED's are fully installed.

Both your ideas sound nice. I simply bought the bright stainless with LED's to go in original position and like them very well. Also used the original back-up assy's to fit in the 66-only rear fenders having factory depressions made for them. TO EACH HIS OWN--BY ALL MEANS USE WHAT SUITS YOU.

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?

Bump for any other ideas? These are great but has anyone tried doing a light where it's mounted to a fuel door for hidden fuel filler in fender?

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?

Here is my idea. 76 Stepside stock taillight lowered and remove backup light. Then build housing to enclose. Tried to look at idea in Diet Coke box cardboard and tape. I put it here to see what everybody here thinks. I have reviewed this thread a few times just looking for ideas.

Also thinking about a filler panel behind fender. Always think looks like something missing in this area. Different truck used to have had roll pan that extended down to bottom of fender , Liked that. This truck getting factory chrome bumper.

I believe I could make these out of metal and soften bends to look more like step ahead of fender.
