Starter bolts

I'm having the hardest time trying to find bolts for the starter for a 1974 sbc. It's a factory style starter and the thickness of the casing is 3-5/8", so the bolts need to be longer....4-1/4"?

Doorman makes some but they don't have the cross hatch, do I need that? The ones that everyone carries that had the cross hatch are either too long or way to short.

Any suggestions?

Re: Starter bolts

The Dorman bolts for my build were from Rock Auto. I ended up with a 10 pack and they came with the knurling. Whats the length you need? I have extras happy to send a couple if you want. Knurling keeps the bolts/starter in alignment
by taking up the slack in the hole.

How much do I need in the block? The starter is 3-5/8" thick, so that plus the block.

Re: Starter bolts

I just measured my starter and it's 3 1/4". The bolts have 3/4" of thread on the ends.

So the bolts are 4"? That would give me 3/8", is that enough?
