67-88 cab swap

hello, ive got a 96 k2500 manual 6.5 diesel 4x4 and just looking to mess around with over the winter, new to the forums thing and just looking for ideas so don't judge me lol. my 6.5 is a good strong truck, and im thinking of doing a cab swap to an early model chev(ideally 67-72 but open to square bodies). keeping all powertrain in place and hopefully modding/dropping cab onto the frame. I'm not worried about having a show truck as ill probably pull the donor cab off some landmark in one of the neighbours fields back home. the endgame would wind up bed-linering the cab and throwing a flat deck on the rear end, so in my mind the biggest ordeal would be wiring, cab mounts/width, and trans tunnel (lots of cut and weld).

I was wondering if anyone has journeyed into a money pit like this and how it worked out? cant find much on the search functions or the old google. was just hoping I could steal some info off of anyone whose got some slick ideas/experience. appreciate anything you got, thank ya much.

Idk about you, but the physical part isnt
Too hard. Just kinda figure out the height and make some mounts... I Wana 6.5 swap my 74 soon. My thing is wiring... How would that work, unless you run manual gauges?

As for Gagues I figured go to aftermarket, or a guess is someone’s made a mech/elec Adapter for such an ordeal... I hope. Have you measured out the ddimensions for motor to fit in 74? Biggest worry for me is about lining up nv500 trans, pretty tall so I’ll be doing some cut n fit on mine.

I adapted all of my stock Jeep gauges with my 6.5 swap. Hint - use the senders for the vehicle you are dropping the engine into. I simply adapted all of the Jeep senders to fit into the 6.5 block.

I've done the same thing on most of my swaps so the factory gauges etc work.
