327 carb
What would be the best carb for a 68' 327 in a 54 chevy 3100? It has a turbo 350 and has had a mild cam upgrade.

Re: 327 carb
That can be controlled by what intake you might already have. 2 barrel....4 barrel....spread or square bore?
Anything in the 500-600 cfm rating will do. If you ask brand, you will get this thread to go on and on and on and on because we have the Q-jet guys, Edlebrock bros and then the Holley dudes that have their ducks in a row! lol What makes it hard is that there are no wrong answers....................as long as you choose Holley. |

Good answer! <lol> But really, he said it best. Keep it small-ish, keep it realistic, and I'll add that if you have someone local that will help you tune it, run what he's familiar with. Even an ancient Carter AFB will run fine and get you plenty from a 327!

Re: 327 carb
interesting that everyone likes holley so much. I dont have any experience with holley, but I have my 327 running like a swiss watch with an edelbrock 1406 with electric choke (600 cfm).Easy to tune and great for a daily.

Re: 327 carb
Oh believe me....there is a huge Edelbrock following on here and don't get those Q-jet guys started!!!! They all meter fuel just fine and I think there is good and not so good in all.

Re: 327 carb
For good all around driveability & gas mileage you can't beat a Q-jet.
But as said before a lot depends on what manifold you have. If you are going raceing then the Holley is best but they are tempermental. |

Yessir, a good, reliable, simple design. Basically a Carter AFB, found on hundreds of thousands of cars and trucks in the 60's.
