lower control arm interchange

I need lower control arm bushings. 1964 c10 1/2 ton

Is a lower control arm from an 84 c10 a straight drop in, or will I have to change the upper too.

Re: lower control arm interchange

The '84 control arms have rubber bushings versus the steel bushings on the '64. I prefer the later model rubber bushings myself. The '84 arms will bolt up, but i would recommend drilling out the U-bolt holes and using the larger '84 U-bolts. I would also just go ahead and change the uppers for the '84 arms while you're at it

Re: lower control arm interchange

Most people do the control arm swap as part of a disc brake conversion. If you want to keep your stock spindles you will need to replace the ball joints with the 63-70 type. Disc brake ball joints have a larger diameter stem (where they fit into the spindles) than the ones for drum brakes.
