That Q jet has the cable type ends on it. You can swap to a cable pedal for that part. What trans is in it? There are threads on doing the cable throttle swap. I am getting ready to do it on my 66.

Re: original accelerator linkage to new style conversion?

63C20,
Another way to accomplish this is to use a factory bracket off ANY GM vehicle with a Quadrajet carb and a turbo 350. I don't know how many carbureted cars are still in the junk yards but that's what I did on my 350/350 64 C-10. The bracket just mounts on the back of the carb and uses the 2 back carb mounting bolts to mount the bracket.

Re: original accelerator linkage to new style conversion?

On my q-jet I used a threaded rod with a heim joint on each end. One side connected to the rod that comes off of the peddle and the other connected to the carb. I think that the stud that has the center line going to it in your photo will unscrew and there will be a hole there. The problem I had when I did that is that I never felt like I was getting full rotation out of the throttle on the carb. It will get you on the rode but it might not give you full throttle. If you can figure out a way to get a rod to hook on to the top stud in your photo I think you will be in business.

I ended up installing a Lokar peddle and linkage in my truck. But that was done while having my firewall smoothed so it was easy to fill in the old holes and add new ones.

Re: original accelerator linkage to new style conversion?

63C20,
Sorry I misread your question. As forestb suggested, I would use heim joints at each end with all thread rod connecting something light but #10-32 internally thread heim ends is about the smallest I've found. MCmaster-Carr lists them as Ball Joint Rod ends. Here's some from McMaster-Carr

McMaster-Carr does sell to the public as does Graingers now.
