Re: Lets see Ochre and White trucks

Got the leaky roof fixed in my barn; that's why she's wet, otherwise, she only sees sunny days.

Sierra Grande w/402, auto, PS, PB, and A/C. Nothing too exotic, but looks stunning and runs great. She's my absolute favorite out of all the trucks I own, not only for the colors, but that she's a GMC.

Here is my '72. What I think is hilarious is the factory olive green interior with the ochre. Not really sure about that fashion statement.

Here is my new factory white/ochre/white/ochre 1971 SWB BB Cheyenne hidden beneath a bad 1980s repaint. I swear that someday it will fly its original colors again....

That reminds me of a recent conversation with the women next door.

Neighbor: "so you ever going to paint this thing?"
Me: "I don't know I may eventually repaint it the original color"
Neighbor: "Why wouldn't you paint it black?"

Some people just don't get it, it's an ochre thing.
I didn't want to get into the fact I spent 2 years looking for an ochre truck that hadn't be resprayed black (or some other color) back in the 80's

Hee hee, ochre is my destiny; my 1971 Jimmy is ochre too. I love that color and I'm considering it for the exterior paint job on my next house!

Here is mine. Ochre is a color that has grown on me....in fact.....it has grown on me all my life. My truck was owned by my dad 2 years before I was born.

Man, that wood bed floor looks too nice to abuse!

I've had that problem with mine, ever since my son had the truck painted. He did get the bed floor Rhino-Lined, but I wish the tailgate and sides were done. For nearly 30 years before that, I hauled anything and everything in that bed, from bricks to dirt bikes.

thank you!

wasn't intended to look as nice as it turned out, just meant to be durable

two coats of epoxy and 6 coats of spar varnish

and even though we haul wood and brush with it, we take care not to scratch or gouge it

the rake teeth in the last picture are off the back of the bed

Re: Lets see Ochre and White trucks

I really like your OE-looking trucks. I've had mine since 1989 when it was bone stock with narrow steel wheels and a 307. If I could turn the clock back, I'd probably keep it as near stock as possible. It didn't have A/C, so I'm not sure what I could have done about that.

Present day:
