Centering rear axle????

I remember seeing a post about someone moving their rear axle to center it in the wheelwell. I am mounting my 69 body on an 86 chassis and i need to move the rear axle about an inch or so forward to center it in the wheelwell. I was wondering if anyone has any sugestions.

heres a pic of the beast
