Re: Header gaskets
The copper ones are the my favorite. They are also re-useable. I've used (and re-used) them on small & big blocks with no issues. The Fel-pro steel core laminates are good too and a bit cheaper than the copper ones. For a sbc, the Summit brand copper ones are like $30, the steel core laminate ones are around $20.

Re: Header gaskets
If you use Big block length header bolts with washers almost any gasket will last a LONG time. Use the copper or laminated above as mentioned with bolts and washers the use Summits ball collector reducers that eliminate the collector gasket (about $30) and retorque after first hour of running or so and should be good for years.

Re: Header gaskets
x2 on the ball & socket collectors, they are the bomb!!! I use them on every header exhaust system I do know. This set is on my '69 stepper, I used the Fel Pro steel core laminate round port gaskets, the long header bolts with lock washers and it's nice & tight with no leaks.
