How do you convert from 8 lug to 6?

I have a 99 2500 crew cab that I want to change to a 6 lug. Is there a rear end that will bolt directly in to convert it? Are there rotors that can convert the front? What all is involved? My current rear is a 14 bolt ff.

Since that is still old body style you could easily swap out stuff from a 1/2 88-98 style truck, but that would give you 5 lug. Not sure if the newer style(99-07) 1/2 A-arms and brakes are a bolt in. I would imagine any 88-98 1/2 ton 4x4 rear end would give you the brake parts and axles for 6-lug.

If I was you, I would try and find a light duty 3/4 ton from 88-98. The I would just convert everything over to your crew. The light duty 3/4's are 6 bolt. I'm pretty sure the process is the same as converting to 1/2 ton.

I did this last year. I bought an early 90's x-cab 1\2 ton and swapped everything over. Here is a link to my build thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=566848.

A pic for inspiration
