subframing is old school. it works but it causes a lot of extra work down the road. clipping works but I will never do it again. cross member kits while a bit more costly give far more in terms of ease of installation and technology to go back to clipping. make sure to use a reputable brand and you will be all smiles.

Re: 1954 3100 mii

I have a crossmember, control arms, and spindles still in the box awaiting fitment in my 3600. I bought the pieces from different vendors. I was trying to be budget conscious. Hindsight, I wish I would've bought all from the same place.

There are a couple different widths for crossmembers, mine is the narrow one. Also some vendors use a cheaper lower ball joint, be aware of that.

The crossmember is an "economy" unit from CPP. It's 3/16 steel and the build quality is excellent. My only complaint is that it's the narrow version. Like I said before, I wish I would've bought everything from them.

Just a thought, give JW Rod Garage in Belgium, WI a call. From what I understand they build their stuff in house. I haven't heard anything bad about them either.
