part it out or not?

68 c10 long bed has rust in a rocker panels, some dents and hacked dash. Otherwise it's all there. Nothing special truck. Manual brakes and steering. At first I bought it for parts. Right now I got it running ok for a dailly driver. My only consern is that I'll regret it later on. It's only taking a parking space for now at the shop.

Re: part it out or not?

Kind of depends on how many parts are salvageable and how much time spent vs. your returns.
I'd drive it, if it runs & drives ok... my 2 cents.

Re: part it out or not?

Long as there is no rust above the visors and roof i'd say its a driver.. I'd take it if you were closer.

Re: part it out or not?

I hate to see a driver get dismantled, yet I am about to do it to one myself, so in short... you do what ya gotta do. BTW yours is in waaayyyy better shape than the one I am going to part.

Re: part it out or not?

I would keep it especially if it runs decent (unless you have too many projects..need some money or such). You may find time and or dollars later to tweak it a bit here and there. I personally like trucks that are a bit rough but drive well...are safe...mechanically sound...

Best of luck, Roger

Re: part it out or not?

I say keep it or sell it. You can allways find a nonoperational truck to part out. Seems kind of a shame to part out a driver.

But, it is your truck, so it is your choice to do what you want with it. There will still be plenty of other trucks out there.

Good luck!

Re: part it out or not?

with the time and effort to dismantle to sell for parts i'd think you'd make more money selling it as it sits// as the truck doesnt appear to have alot of real money maker options on it to sell individually

Re: part it out or not?

If it is only taking up a parking space, runs good and you dont need the money I say keep it.If you have to sell then I say sell it as a running truck and let someone else enjoy it.

Re: part it out or not?

well, i'd LOVE to have that front bumper and the bumper guards! lol -BUT I think that truck looks a lot more solid than my 68 Longbed, especially since it's a Cali truck, so I'd drive it! I wouldnt part out a truck that's running/driving...

Re: part it out or not?

Around here many 5-7 year old trucks have more rust than that.

I'd say some of us Eastern guys would gladly take it off your hands, just all those miles in between kinda mess that up!

Re: part it out or not?

Ever stop to think how expensive original parts are going to be in another 5-10 years. Then try to figure how many are getting crushed in an average year. Some day repop stuff from China will be our ownly choice. As all the orginal metal will be in the new stuff or passing you on the interstate.
Just My 2 cents worth.

Keep it and cut it down, that would make a excellent short bed.
