Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

Been a while since an update, the heat mixed with work has slowed me down. Here is the latest.

I have tons of Audio equipment left over from the planned build of my caddy. In addition to the above i will use one or two JL Audio W-7's For those that are not familiar look them up they have the cleanest and deepest base in my opinion. I have been a bass head since i could drive and i wouldn't use any other sub.

The mids and highs are JL audio C5's very good speakers.

The TV deck I have never tried before. But it has everything i want for this truck, touch screen, bluetooth. This will be hooked up to my ipad/iphone for playing songs.

Did you have a custom tank made by Boyds? If so what were the dimensions? I think that's exactly what I'm looking for.

No, ordered it right from their site its the tank for the 67-72 trucks. I just mounted it above the frame rails, And moved it back more due to the rear PB set-up. There is no other place i felt good to put it with that gave me access to the bolts holding it in and decent room for everything else.

I mounted above the frame rail because of a lesson i learned the hard way, when i had my last chevy layd out i went out draggin for a whole night and was shooting videos with my local car club. I picked up a road dot and it shot through my gas tank. I was doing 65 and had a full tank of gas while throwing about 50-60 feet of sparks. Very scary!! So i want this one as far off the ground as possible.

That's my main concern having the front and rear drop member. The bed floor will be raised, so I'm not real worried about how high it sits. The Boyd's 67-72 tank according to their dimensions online won't fit between porterbuilt cross braces on my 65.

Steering linkage done. Pulled out the old lower bearing. Replaced with new and the rest most of you have seen many times.

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

Ok-- Long time, been slacking.. Herniated another disc in my back. Sounds like i'm an old man, 5th herniation and I'm 25 not good. So I have been taking it easy.

Been working on fuel lines, Interior, been flaring and bending brake lines, porterbuilt hood hinges, test fitting motor and tranny. ect and doing a lot of staring at the frame lol..

Motor will not fit, so the good guys from porterbuilt are sending me some new motor mount brackets that will raise the motor mounts. This will allow the motor the clear the steering rack and pinion.

Interior seats and console are off the my interior guy. I promise the interior will not disappoint. Very modern, loud system with all JL audio products gonna be clean. Been looking into gauges and am between some dakota digital and Auto meter.

Air suspension will be all Accuair, after diving into their boxes I am happy i went with them.

Wow, really nice! Looks like you are putting some pricey toys in this rig! I wish I would have had a little more cash for mine, it would have saved a lot of time fabricating stuff. Keep up the pics!

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

The Dakota Digitals have that modern look I think, and would go well with the theme you describe for the interior. That center console fits well in there and I like the look of it. Kind of already follows the squarish lines of the dash.

Btw, we have 10% off right now on Dakota Digital.

I am sorry if you already said, but could you tell me what the seats and console came out of?
They would fit a future thematic build I have in mind very well !!

Yea, I looked at these and like them a lot, i would go with the blue back lighting so it would match the lights on my in-dash screen. I also have blue LED strips My interior guy is incorporating into the doors and box for the subs. This way everything matches.

Between these two what do you guys think. I personally like the elegant look of the Auto Meters.

No problem murph, I got the seats 07 tahoe and the center console came from an Escalade Esv (not sure which year, but had to come from a year between 06 and whenever they changed the body style)

The seats have the built in heaters and the center console has a lot of extra goodies too.

Shon over in the Vendors section
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=462861&page=3
is pricing those exact AutoMeter Prestige Black Diamond guages for me as we speak. I agree with you in that I like the style of look to them, and what really sold me on them was the night time look.
However I am getting the wheel odo, and not the digital.
Once I start going digital, then everything will have to be digital....

Thanks for the info on the seats and console!
Like I said, I am planning a theme based build after this one and those would fit the look !!

It is pure quality, From the packaging down to the controller. Very excited. The Auto-level feature is very cool, if you are hauling a small trailer or load the bed uneven with weight it automatically adjust to keep everything level on all corners. Very cool feature!!

I also got the wireless remotes with my kit so thats just another cool feature

I think it is worth the money if you plan on making the car/truck a driver.
