1999 Suburban Gas Tank?

I have been wanting to put a new tank under the blazer. My buddy has a 1999 suburban tank and pump setup I can have for free if it will fit.

Does anyone know for sure if it will work?

thanks

Re: 1999 Suburban Gas Tank?

the dimensions are
29-3/4 x 33-1/2 x 13-1/8 for the 1999
28-3/4 x 28 1/8 x 12-3/4 for the 1991
I think all you have between the rails is 29 inches that is why people use the 1991 if you were willing to trim the bottom strap of the rail and keep the seem on the bottom you could make it fit.
I did the 1991 tank and the seem just fits.

I have to say if your doing a ls swap the newer style sending unit would be nice to have and drop in.

The filler neck seems to be on a corner and may end up being too far back or would have to cut the filler neck on the body side and re root.
You would still have to remove the middle cross member and move it quite a bit forward. and this may get in the way of the shocks not sure about that though.

With enuf will and time you can make any thing fit but for the cost of a tank under $100 and a sending unit $75 for the 1991 I would go that route it has been proven to fit. Especially if the 1999 is used. I don't think I would ever use a used gas tank unless I had no other choice.

hope this helps
