Thanks! I built the brackets. Pictures posted in the other thread.

"UPDATE: I have all my panels cut and installed. The fit is good and the satin white is similar to the factory original. I have been trying to find some nice plastic headliner bows, but that is starting to seem like an impossible task. So I got in contact with a company about manufacturing some new ones. I sent them a couple of pieces to use as samples. I think this will probably happen. They won't be chrome like the originals, but they will be paintable. In the meantime, I took the 3 nicest bows that I have and color matched them to the headliner material. This will have to do for right now."

Did you ever get those custom made bows?
Well, as of right now, no one wants to reproduce them. The guy I'm working with is still trying to find a manufacturer that is. I may have a couple of extra decent ones that you could probably paint, but won't know for a few weeks until I get mine installed.

Thanks Travis!

I made a little more progress this weekend on some things that have been bugging me for a little while. First, I replaced some airline fittings that were leaking at the swivel (seemed like an odd place for a leak). Of course they were in the most difficult place to deal with . Once that was done, I installed a new closer ratio RedHead power steering box. The factory box was a 16:1 ratio (4 turns lock to lock) and it felt like I was steering an aircraft carrier . The new one is a 14:1 ratio (3.5 turns lock to lock). I know that doesn't seem like much, but it feels so much better and is a lot less "work" to maneuver this beast, . I also got my headliner bows finished. Will try to install them today and then I can call the headliner D.O.N.E.

Are your headliner bows reconditioned factory ones or ??? I would love to see how they came out. Mine are in but if they ever have to be removed I don't have much confidence in my ablity to remove them without damage.

A buddy of mine painted my originals with some "special" automotive chrome paint. Not exactly like the originals, but I think they will look good. Will post picswhen installed.

I know I missed you not having it at Battle in Bama this year, but I hope you'll bring it to the Southeastern ALL Chevy/GMC Truck Nationals.

We have a busy family summer planned so I'll have to play that by ear. Depending how everything falls out, we will try to make it up.

I got 2 of the headliner bows installed last night. It was slow going and took about 45 minutes to an hour apiece doing it by myself, . You definitely have to be patient with them. I put Vaseline on the bows and the metal keeper which helped a lot. I should be able to get the last one installed tonight. As far as removing them, I think if you used a heat gun an were very carful, you'd probably be OK. Here's a couple pictures of the ones I installed last night (my apologies for the bad lighting).

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)

Apparently I got lucky with the first two bows only taking an hour apiece, as the last one took two hours.... Oh well, it's done and I think it came out pretty well. My buddy also got a little more done on the sub box, can't wait to see what it looks like done.

The bows came out great. Took a lot of patience. What was fighting you?

It was hard to get them to snap into the metal top bow without bending or breaking them. I finally figured out a method that required me to work them on about an inch at a time. It was just slow going at an awkward angle position with your hands above your head.... I guess it should be expected from an almost 50 year old part, .

I also mounted a toggle switch to work as a headlight dimmer since I had to remove the factory one (due to the kick panel speaker pod interference). Not my most creative solution, but it works and can be easily undone if I come up with something better.

Here's a better picture of the headliner and a little more work completed on the sub box.

Ahh - so that's what you're doing back there. Hadn't thought about a speaker box. Still kicking around that kind-of a looks like a spare box, but maybe as a tool kit and air compressor storage.

If you get a chance think you could get some better pictures of the bows you installed? Really interested in seeing what you did to yours.
