Don't quote me on this but I had an IFS in a 1/2 ton truck 94 Pickup and when I pulled the front wheels and the caliper off the rotor comes right off. There shouldn't be anything else holding it on except the lugnuts (wheel) and the caliper. Hope this helps.

To remove the rotor.
raise front and set on jackstands.
Remove wheel and the brake caliper.
Remove the lockouts(autohubs)
Using a spindle socket remove the lock nut.
Then remove the lock ring and adjusting nut.
Pull the rotor and hub assembly off the spindle.
Now would be a good time to remove the spindle and replace the axleshaft u-joints as well.
That is a breif summery of what it entails.
The spindle socket is the only special tool there is.
Other than a basic tool set.
Torx bits for the lockout screws.
snap ring pliers.
a pick.
A decent repair manual would explain it all in detail.
The haynes manual I have has a good breakdown of it.

My aren't we hostile.
Up untill 1991 Suburbans and Blazers had solid front axles.
So since he has a 1990 3/4 ton Suburban that would mean that it has a corporate 10 bolt axle. Either 6 or 8 lug.
He also stated that he has autolocking hubs, which would be a solid front axle.
Which indicates that it would have axleshfts not half shafts.

powermad you around. I was having trouble locating the special locknut tool then found at Napa auto parts it has 6 lugs on it does this sound correct? I even went to the powerbuilt web page to see if the tool i have is correct and it seems to be. But when i look in the Chiltons that i have its not real clear on sequence of part removal. Heres what it says
1. Raise and support front end on jackstands
2. Remove the wheeels
3. Remove the hubs ( I am asuming that would be the covers)
4. Wipe the inside of the hub to remove grease.
5. Using your bearing nut socket remove the locknut from the spindle (ok this is where i have a prob, Is this the special socket? the tool doesent fit do you have to remove the spring clip and other parts so the tool fits in?)
6. With the locknut off you'll be able to see the locking ring on the adjusting nut. Remove the locking ring. A tool such as a dental pick will make this easier.
7. Using the special socket, remove the bearing adjusting nut. and so on. Does this sound right? Let me know.

You have to remove the whole lock out assy to get to the goods
Not just the cover.
My socket is a Snap On one so the Part # will be different But mine has 4 lugs on it, the socket for the 14 Full floater has 6 and is bigger around than the D44 one.
The front socket is 2 3/8" wide.
It sounds like you have the socket for a rear axle.
If you have a 14 bolt full floater keep it, if you have a semi floating one then take it back.
