Question Reversed Q-jet carb.........

I am running the orriginal Q-jet carb on a mostly stock 350. For better off road performance, steep hills and angles, I have heard that you can mount the carb backward useing a van accelerator cable.

Can anyone tell me more about this? What year van cable? How well does it work? What all do I need to get?

Aren't the holes in the manifold different sizes for the primaries and secondaries with a Quadrajunk?

Ive never heard of mounting the King of off-road carbs, the Q-jet, backwards.

i cant see the secondaries being able to open very far when carb is mounted backwards,,, as far as i have seen and heard, the colorado offroaderws dont do this, who made mention of this to you ?

Some of the Ford and Dodge guys do mount Q-Jets backward. I am pretty sure they do it to get a slight advantage when climbing very steep hills. This would be since the bowl would then be on the low side, so gas would not spill out the vents. This would be where Q-jets are being adapted to a square bore manifold, so it doesn't really matter which way you mount it, aside from getting a throttle cable hooked up. I think the same benefit can be achieved by extending the bowl vents with a piece of hose, and running the carb the way god intended it.

I think the carb would react in a similar manor to climbing a steep hill as it would to rapid acceleration.

You could take a quad to holley adapter, then also add a holley to quad adapter but turn it around. Should fit just fine I believe.
