Re: Project "Cheap Truck"

A friend of mine picked up a couple doors for me at an auction for less than 10 bucks a piece! The doors are MUCH BETTER than what I currently have! They are rust free but have a couple small minor dents that should be no problem to fix. Also, they don't have a million extra mirror holes. Plus the window regulators work!! I couldn't be happier. They also picked me up a new hood since mine was rusted through along the front lip.

Pics to come tomorrow.

Re: Project "Cheap Truck"

As promised here are pics of the doors (old and new). The new ones aren't perfect but for 20 bucks for both of them they will definately work!

Re: Project "Cheap Truck"

That's gotta be the best 20 dollar upgrade I've seen yet! Looks like they'll clean up nicely. Maybe try and clean/shoot the insides of them with something to better protect.

Re: Project "Cheap Truck"

definitely a deal for $20. You can sell just the guts out of them for 100-120 or more for the pair with the vent window/glass/etc...

Re: Project "Cheap Truck"

Changing the intake manifold from the stock cast iron 4 barrel to the aluminum Edelbrock I bought from Bobbo. Took the cast iron off and this is what I found. Think this might cause a little vacuum leak?

Don't know about that, unless they reused them when they went through the motor. The side intake gaskets were Fel-Pro.

90133 is FEL-PRO You're question "Think this might cause a little vacuum leak?" is a rhetorical question, ?

Re: Project "Cheap Truck"

Definitely making some awesome progress Scott! Want pics of the intake on it... Awesome score on the doors! I rely on cheap deals like that to put my truck together. LOL. I need to get up there one of these weekends soon.

Re: Project "Cheap Truck"

I'll get pics Bobbo. Gotta get a carb stud kit since the old intake took the spacer. Gonna replace the hoses too.

Got my new hood mounted! It's great to open it up and not have rusty metal fall on my head! Anyway, here's pics!
