Re: Dash

Neat idea.
No glove box or is it Incorporated into the second bezel?

Re: Dash

Ill get some more pics up when its done, in the pic above it was just sitting on the dash wasnt finished cut out or tached in.

DennyB, no glove box. I would have liked to make the glove box open with the bezel, but it wouldnt have looked right since the "V" isnt centered on the box door. If I would have centered it for the door it wouldnt have been the same distance from the edge as the other one.

Re: Dash

55ChevyPU, not sure what all else I will be doing to the dash or interior. I do have plans already in my mind about some of the exterior stuff. For example im going to see what I can do with a 58-59 hood and make it fit a 55-57 style front clip (using a 56 viking clip). Also thinking of making the hood open from the side sortta like the old 49' buicks and stuff. Im also going to try and find a 5 window cab. I may have to find a 5 window COE and cut the back part off and put it on a regular cab. I have a few more weird ideas floating around in my head.

Re: Dash

I think it is a cool original idea, kind of reminds me of the 55-56 car dash.

Thats where my idea came from, the 55-56 car dashes. I had first thought of just fabbing a 55 dash I have into the 55-59 cab. But I thought making this one would be a little more interesting than just using a belair dash.

New pics

Sorry for the poor quality pics guys. I just got "done" tonight and my camera sucks at night pictures...even in a lighted building. Still a few details need attention but not bad.

Re: Dash

Thanks CAL. It took me forever being the slacker that I am. Would have been easier with a small mig, just a little hard to weld a thin dash with a 220 arc. I eventually got it welded up and smoothed the welds up with some body filler.

Re: Dash

It'll look great on the passenger side with a big digital clock!!

but seriously it's things like the dash work that will really set your truck apart from others. Keep up the good work!!!

Re: Dash

Thanks for the compliments guys.

entourageguy, actually the driver's side is the one im going to have to find something to put in it. Im going to be making the truck right hand drive so my normal gauge cluster will be on the passenger side. Since the truck will be bagged when done im thinking of putting the air gauges in the "driver" side cluster V.

Re: Dash

Looks very cool man. I'm just wandering, because I haven't got that far. Did you cut the dash out or does it unbolt from the truck? I need to repair my radio hole and it would be a lot easier outside the truck.

Re: Dash

The dash is spot welded to the truck. If you buy an assembly manuel it tells you exactly where the welds are so you can get it out easily.

Re: Dash

What Jebb said ^^^^ Getting one out is easier than putting it back though.
