69 C-10, 292 6 cyl. to 427 conversion w/granny 4 spd.

I've pulled the 292 out of my 69-C-10, placed the new V-8 motor mounts in, swapped out the bell housing and dropped the engine in. The valve covers have less than 1" clearance to the firewall. The bell housing cross member is 3-4" further back from lining up to the mounts. Is it as simple as grinding off the rivets and sliding it forward?
