Re: Repop cabs

A company named Dynacorp makes repop cabs for earlier years. I have written them several times about the 67-72 cabs. No response. They apparently don't understand the demand. I don't think GM thought these trucks would last so long. Almost like the cabs were design to "hold" water.

Re: Repop cabs

67-72 cabs are not reproduced unfortunately.

GM made a million of these trucks, and I still see cabs here in the junkyards that would be considered "rust free" outside of California. They are getting fewer and fewer as the years go by, but can still be found on CL and many other places. There will be a time however when these cabs will be reproduced, it's just a question of when. There is a completely restored 100% rust free cab on the parts board right now that is priced at about HALF of what a repro cab would cost (based on repro cab costs for other earlier year trucks) and not ONE person has stepped up to buy it. If I were thinking about repopping these cabs, that right there would be ALL the evidence I need to keep me from doing it

Re: Repop cabs

I do believe the reasoning of why they are not reproduced is purely economic,.
A little while ago I was talking with Art Morrison (artmorrison.com) why he did not offer one of his chassis for the 67-72's and his response was it was not cost effective as the age group of the guys building them. generally were 30-50 years o!d and did not have the "disposable" income available like the guys that were building the 47-55 trucks.( 60-80 age group ).
So in reality how many of us would be willing and most of all able to spend $7-8k on just a cab?

The ones without floors maybe but I'm guessing the ones in the left column are no different than Jeep tubs being sold and used for everyday drivers.

A quick look into their mailing address tells be to keep your checkbook closed. The address is a residence, not a business so either someone is fronting for an offshore importer or this is a scam.

As I've watched that cab on the parts board not sell, I thought the same thing- if anyone from dynacorn is watching this they know that there is no demand for repop cabs yet. It is a very nice cab- hope he can sell it
