brake conversion 72 fwd to 84 fwd

I converted my 72 3/4 ton four wheel drive running gear to 84 1 ton running gear. In doing so, I seem to have lost braking power.

The 1984 truck came equiped with the hydroboost master cylinder. which I dont want to use if I can help it.

I am still using the 72 master cylinder and proportioning valve. I think this is where my problems lay.

has anyone run into this problem? How did you overcome?

Does anyone have suggestions?

Did you try to use a 1ton master cylinder from 72. Due to the different size and fluid requirements between the two braking systems, you might not be pushing enough fluid. Might want to try the proportioning valve from the 84. Just a suggestion.
