Pulling radio out

I have a 72 c-10 and would like to replace the radio, and at the same time replace a broken lever in the heater/AC control. I see that I will ne to remove some of the flexible duck hoses, but do I need to remove the heater air flow unit that's against the inside of the firewall? Am I looking at a difficult patient challenging project here, or is it just time consuming? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

Time consuming for the most part. It'll be easier since you're removing the heater controls too.
No, you don't have to take out the ductwork, you just work around it.
If you have all the original brackets and brace up in there, there is a simple brace connected to the back of your radio to the dash next to the speaker opening.

Re: Pulling radio out

I usually pull the radio through the glovebox. Makes it easy and you can see what your doing. The glovebox liner can be tough to remove without damage.

I'll second that. If you have time in advance, order a spare liner if it's a high end truck (very hard to do without crinkling the cardboard), and go through the glovebox.
