Thumbs up AC & Electric fans...

There has been a lot of posts lately about which AC units to buy and what freon to use and with a POA valve, orfice tube are whatever. Well if your in the process of building a system then this thread isn't going to help you much, then again it may help you after you read this!
I have modified 2 systems now like I'm fixing to state here and they both work like a charm. The one in my truck has been running now for almost 4 years with only one problem and that was the paddle fell off somewhere on the last power tour, on my way home form Kansas.

So here is what I have done.
On both my systems I have electric fans to cool the truck and Impala. The truck has a set of Camaro fans which run one with temp senor and the other with the AC compressor fan switch.
When I turn the AC on in the truck a relay kicks on the high speed fan for evaperator cooling to get the AC nice and cold which it is at 40* and that's with outside temps in the lower 90*.
Now what I'm getting to is the fan is also wired to a Golf Cart micro switch on the front grille area that I mount a paddle to it so that once the truck is moving it will automatically cut the electric fan off since at speed you don't need the Electric fan any more. In the truck it's around 25MPH. Once you slow down under 25 it will come right back on. I also added a small LED light under the dash so I know when the fan is running. This saves the motors on the fans and should make them last a lot longer.
I know what your thinking a Golf Cart micro switch! Yes a G/C switch. They work fine and if it burns up it's cheap to replace.

I just finished up the one on the Impala and did a video of it. It works great. The car sat in the garage for 10-20 minutes running the AC and it was 38* and the motor never went over 190*. It's wired with the low speed fan on with the AC. The loose wire is the high speed which I'm going to wire it into the system to manually over ride the system when I need it.
I'll post that when done. I hope this helps you guy's with electric fans out and keep from spending a bunch of $$$$$$$$$ for probes and senors. The video is of the Impala one installed but the truck is basically just like it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Thumbs up Re: AC & Electric fans...

I did a wire change to this and it's working great now for 2 years. I used a 5 pin relay as pictured. The low speed fan wire is ran to 87A and comes on whenever the car is on but the fan is also wired to a adjustable thermostatic so unless the temp is above the set point the low speed want come on.
Now if it is on and I turn the AC on it will kick the low speed off and the high speed will start running. Once the vehicle is at speed though the paddle switch on the micro switch will cut it off and save your electric fans motor.
The micro switches I used are golf cart micro switches good up to 36 volts and 250 amps DC.
