4L60e vent hose goes...?

I never got a vent hose with my 4L60e. I bought this one for it. It looks like the vent end just points up, maybe attach to the firewall out of site. The small hose hooks up to the top of the case where you can see the original one is cut off. But what's with the long end that points off toward the tail end? Where does it go? Or did I accidentally buy one for a 4x4 and that end goes to the transfer case?, in which case I'll just cut it off and cap it.

On my 98 Wrangler LS swap I ran the vent tube/hose forward to the radiator and about level with the top of the grill.

Mystery solved. I talked to a local transmission shop. If the trans is ever overfilled or overheated and pukes some fluid it comes out the long tail of that hose. The hose goes rearward and is anchored where no fluid can spill onto the exhaust.
