Re: Project...praise the lowered

nothing too exciting in this update.i spent the weekend blocking, and blocking and more blocking.im going to have to say the shaping grill will probably be the most time consuming part of the body work.so many curves and sharp edges but it turned out well.had a buddy come over and help out so that was a bonus.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

still blocking.i moved to the roof and the door gap.so far so good.my buddy showed me a great way to spread filler perfect along gaps.use a sign like a garage sale sign and stick it in the gap when your applying filler.it worked great.hers a few more pics.had my better half over today giving a hand.its amazing how well she does with body work.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

good to see you guys are still checking my build out.not much to update lately.still blocking filler but it has come a long way.and i got some goodies.b&m hammer shifter, and paddle switch/double needle gauge combo and some small stuff.i did manage to get some more parts blasted and painted and have the front half of the frame stripped/primed and sprayed with boxliner so the front suspension should be bolted into place real soon.also have a set of trailing arms in the making and just waiting for the rear axle to get blasted so i can make some out side frame mounts and rear bag mounts.i will get some pics real soon for you guys still following it.

thanks dude.well if your going to attempt it i would do it with the windshield still in or keep checking the shape by putting the window in once in a while because mine was way off when i tried to set in the windshield the first time.do small sections at a time and if your bringing in the side to match the tops of the doors like i did,do a small test section to see how much of a strip you have to cut out to line it up proper.and again just do a little at a time.all said and done get ready to block bodyfill until your arms fall off.hope this helps in some way.any other questions feel free to ask

That truck is smoove! Your coefficient of drag will be under 0.30 if you keep this up! Maybe even under 0.25, the drag of the hideous Prius.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

ok man,i went over today before i saw your post.i got a few pics if they dont work for you i will get more.what i did was simple.cut the center cross out,..the 4 missing sections where the cross meets the sides and top i simply welded in pieces i cut from the cross piece.bought a billet grill for a 73-83 then laid it on top of the 67 grill.traced looking down around the headlight buckets and used a cut off wheel to cut it out.then used a press to get the right bend i needed.hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I probably would have removed the windshield. I can see what you mean by bringing in the side to match the tops of the doors in the new pictures. Did you drill the spot welds and remover the lower part of the drill rail that is inside the top of the door frame or leave it in?

Oh yea one more question. How did you get your lady to work on your truck? That is quality!! HAHA

haha.shes been helping me with cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles since day one.lucky catch i guess.
as for the drip rails i didnt drill any spot welds.just took out about a 1/2 inch or a little less section then brought the outer edge in to meet the inner.
