Cab Swap

I'll be getting a '85 cab next month to replace the rusted out one on my '78 K15 and I'd like to know if I will have to pull the trans hump from the K15 or can I just cut a hole in the new cab for the transfer case shifter. I really don't want this to be a hack job so I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

If the 85 cab was either 4 wheel drive and I think if it had a sm465 trans (manual) it will have had the high hump trans cover.

Re: Cab Swap

Around here guys use a 2" body lift and a small hole for the shifter.

Re: Cab Swap

The floor and center humps are different in the 73-80 to 81-87 trucks. You will need a center hump from a 4x4 81-87 truck. If you look at the thread I have on my "rebuilding my 1977 plow truck" It covers a lot of the issues you will go through on replacing a older cab with a newer cab. there are also issues to deal with on the front end if you are going to use the old style front end with the new style cab.
