Rear tire size

Hello I'm new on here. A few weeks ago I bought a 69 c10 long bed.
The suspension is stock and I am keeping it that way.
My question is, how big of back tire can I fit under it?

Re: Rear tire size

There is more varibles to note before a proper answer can be given, wheel diameter, wheel width, wheel back spacing, wheel offset

Re: Rear tire size

I will have to buy wheels and tires. I do want a wide tire without getting to close wheel wells and I don't want it sticking out past the bed side.

Re: Rear tire size

Probably go with 17in wheels. As far as back spacing and wheel width, whatever it needs to be to work out.

Re: Rear tire size

I had BF Goodrich 275/R60-15's all around on my other 72 C/10. No issues with the 60's on 8" Rallys until I dropped the front end 4"...17's will work as long as you dont go to high of a profile out front. A 69 longbed will have relaxed coils from age and mileage over the years and will sit at least an inch lower than when it rolled out of the factory.

Re: Rear tire size

You can fit 33" tires under the rear stock. In the front they may rub.

Re: Rear tire size

I would like to go 32in tall and 12in wide on a 16in or 17in rim. will that work on a stock set up? I want smaller tires on the front. maybe 28in tall and 8in wide. i am not going to lower the front or the back.
as far as rims go... if i bought a 10in rim for the back, would i want a 5in offset?
i bought the truck with 17in by 10in wheels but they are really backset. the tire in the back almost rubs my wheel well. leaves way too much room out towards the fender. looks goofy to me.

Re: Rear tire size

I'm running 235/70-15 up front and 255/70-15 in the Rear. You should be able to go as wide as a 285 and not have any issues*

*I've been wrong before, so....
Also, the Back space on the wheel will play into how wide you can go too.

Re: Rear tire size

I run a 295/50/15 on a 15x10 out back. I believe they are 5 inch back space. Fills up the fenders pretty well on the back. 255/60/15s up front I believe. They are on 15x7s. I haven't looked at it for a while so its kind of hard to remember for sure. No rubbing issues ever. Its going back in the shop in a couple weeks hopefully I could take a closer look.

Re: Rear tire size

Also depends if you have a refurbished factory suspension, or a 48 year old tired, sagging suspension. The rear ends were also slightly different widths from 67-72 and theres no guarantee the stock axle is still under yours unless its already documented.

Re: Rear tire size

I can't confirm nor deny that a 33 will fit on just any truck but when I bought mine it had 33-12.5-16.5s on it.

I currently have 305-70-16s which are roughly the same size as the 33"s that came on it. They are mounted on 16x10 wheels with 5" backspacing.

Keep in mind, my truck is a C20 with leaf springs.
