Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
Yes. I ordered it Jan '92 after reading how the 6.5TD was a completely redesigned new engine . That one actually was a good one. Never an issue till it dropped dead at 335k. I always like the Woodland Green. I had owned a variety of trucks in it over the years. I was hoping to order it in metallic gold like the other two trucks I had but it wasn't offered. Had everything spec'd out when we went to color. I didn't want that Sandstone they had. The salesman was flipping the pages around trying to find any other choices but they were all the other models. He flipped past the fleet colors page and I had him go back. There was the green, but he said those were only available on fleet orders. I asked him if I had a fleet and one truck got wrecked can't I order just one to replace it? He called GMC and they said I could get it if I waited for another order in that color, so I did. I picked the truck up in June. It was almost a '93!

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
I think that you get attached to trucks that you work out of. When I first started out they gave me the worst truck they had. Hey I was 19 and I was the new guy. So I got the biggest pile they had.
I remember my boss handing me the keys and saying "See if it will start". It was a bare bones 1966 F100 stepside. All banged up. But I drove it for years. Even after a tree fell on it in a windstorm and smashed the roof in. I was in it at the time. (That was fun) Then they gave me a new car. It had a radio and a/c. I saw the truck later and it was all fixed up. It was painted and it looked perfect. Then it disappeared. I found out later that the garage foreman had bought it at auction. He had fixed it up on the company dime then pulled the coil wire so it wouldn't start and picked it up cheap. Sneaky move. But at least the old truck got fixed up.

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
That's it! Like a cowboy and his pony. We went through a lot in 22 years. And it wasn't just work. I did parts and truck buying runs, hauled boats to go fishing, swap meets/camping in it... I was all over the place in that truck and did all sorts of things

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
I'd be missing that, too. Was it an actual Cheyenne?
I think now of the things I let bother me on some vehicles that caused me to decide to let them go and I really kick myself. Some things we tear down and do all the time now that they are old make those things look so petty now. Parts and services are also easier to find now than they were years ago.

Buddy of mine had a Cheyenne Super cab w/all the air that i couldn't resist using. It wore all the badges too. Im a little more of a purist now, probably wouldn't go that route. Also pre internet, i miss that thrill of the hunt for parts. I do have another regret.. Seemed legit at the time, My 86 blazer that i loved, sold because it had a 305.. Can't believe now I didn't opt for a swap of some sort. Wife mighta had some say.. i don't know lol

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
If I ever sold a truck that I shouldn't have, I suppose this is it.

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
Thru the years I've owned a fair amount of cars that kinda wish I had kept but not having the $$ to do such I guess that's life. First car I bought was a '69 Mach 1, (I know a F**d), 351 w/4 spd, '72 Monte Carlo, 402/Turbo 400, '65 Impals SS, 300/327 w/4 spd, tach & posi, 72 1/2 ton LWB, '72 Blazer 350 with factory 4 spd.
Of them all I'd take the '65 Impala back in a heart beat even over the Mach 1. That 300 hp/327 was a real screamer in factory mode. Rebuilt the engine since gas was cheap at 26.9 ga mid 70s. Bored, cammed, ported the heads. Added power steering from a junk yard parts haul. Swapped the Muncie linkage to a Mr. Gasket "Bang Shifter", dual exhaust with Thrush mufflers. Repainted for an even $100 bucks to include under the hood, door jams and trunk. Those were the days.

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
One I wish had bought.
In the fifties and sixties kids would leave here for work in Wichita, Topeka and KC as soon as they got old enough. With the new found "wealth" they had found they would buy a factory hot rod and bring It back here to show it off. One such car was a 67 Impala SS 396, four speed, 3.31 pose trac, white with black interior and vinyl top. It had tilt wheel, AM/FM stereo multiplex, tinted glass, bucket seats and console and a couple of options that I can't remember, but no AC, PS or PB. It had all the original paperwork in the glovebox including the invoice. It was $1,200 that I didn't have at the time so I had to let it go. Oh well.

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
Something like this fast back? I thought that roof line was the coolest thing when it came out, for a full size car anyway.

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
The place I bought my '72 K/20 Highlander (wish I hadn't sold) from came up with a clean black on black on black '67 Impala SS396/4spd I was wanting to buy. This was '04 and I think they were asking around $8k. The Highlander ended up needing a lot of work, so I decided to focus on that before buying anything else.
Back around '82 or so I had a '69 K/10 CST Custom Camper for a while. It was Maroon Poly w/red interior, silver pinstripe, wood floor, clearance lamps, bucket seats, tach, a/c, posi, and black 15x8 steelies. A really sharp truck. I sold it to buy a basic '71 K/20 because that was a 4spd, I didn't like the 3spd, and I prefer 8-luggers. I still think that was a good move. I started working for myself out of that K/20, but that K/10 sure was a nice one!

Re: Wish I hadn’t sold it?
67 Impala's hold a special place in my heart. I bought a 4 door with a 327 for my girlfriend for $400 back in the day. I got it because it was cheap and her parents were cheaping out on getting her her first car. She was 17 and I was 19. (I know I was robbing the cradle)
She looked so out of place in that big boat. She was small (about 100 pounds soaking wet) and that car was huge. But we drove it everywhere. It was a great car. It never failed. I found it when I was a meter reader. The guy that had it had inherited it. He had a huge snow white German Shepherd that scared the poo poo out of me and he had to put the dog up before I could go in and read the meter. We were just talking and he said that he just wanted to get rid of the car. I took my girl and picked it up that night. It was a big ugly more door but it was a great cruiser and we had a lot of fun in it. I wish I still had it.
