Is your 'accumilation' causing problems in your life? No? Then you are a collector. As far as how much of a thing is too much? No such thing. That is a number only we can set for ourselves.

I have sold down my model kit collection to leave only GM trucks... almost. Man do I have me some die cast truck banks, though. I probably was caught up in some sort of obsessive behavior with collecting there for a while. It was a high for sure when I'd buy another car, truck, cycle, bicycle, outboard motor, truck part, pressed steel toy trucks, die cast old & new, and on and on. My wife had things she collected and I bought more of her collection than she did. I just had to buy something!!!!!

I'm glad I have gained control of those impulses. Not 100% happy and I still get every impulse. I still want stuff!! But maintaining a manageable life is what's most important to me now. Still working on getting there, too

There will be other vehicles in my future, and I'll be keeping them

This is the only collector car I've ever sold. I sold it to get the Grand Prix that I have now.

I want one, too. I have only ever owned a '99 ZR2 ext cab 5spd. I liked that alright, but felt a reg cab K1500 4.3/5spd w/bench seat would have been a wiser purchase. But I had a friend's late Sonoma for a week and took it for an all day drive over the mountains around and back. I am sold, regular cab short bed 4cyl/5spd. His had that handling susp w/Z/28 wheels, lowered a bit more, pepped-up the motor, various upgrades from other. It was a lot of fun to drive. Like a little sports car, and it was a GMC!! He was working on adding a turbo. But let it go to work toward his LS-powered Bravada drivetrain kinda Syclone-like pickup

When I graduated college in 2004 I tried SO HARD to find a 4.3L Ext Cab 5 spd ZR2. That's actually what I wanted to buy.

The problem was at the time they held their value really well. So well, that after a couple months I gave up and bought a 2000 5.3L Silverado Z71 ext cab with 60K miles for about what people were asking for ZR2s with a lot more mileage. Actually, thinking back, I paid less than that. I stole that truck for $15,900. Drove it for 11 years. Try finding a 5 year old 5.3L silverado anything, let alone a Z71 with 60K miles for 16K today. Nice ZR2s were still going for 18-20K at that time.

I still look them up on marketplace or C-list every once in a while, but the ones that come up are always beat to hell.

Sadly its always the case with four wheel drive vehicles as you know. They get beat up the fastest. And performance models get beat up even faster. But I am sure there are still quite a few nice ones out there. My ideal s10 is like the 03 I described. 4 banger 5 speed. 2wd. As far as box and cab, I am flexible.

The funnest part about that car is when he would shut it off. Give it about 30 seconds to a minute. Then BANG! It would backfire. It was like someone shot off a gun. Scared the cr@p out of people.

LOL, I seem to recall mine doing the same, intermittently. I only had it three months. I was a terror on wheels in that car, lucky I didn't hurt someone.

I have change vehicles so much in my life, as I liked the change and the new projects. The longest vehicle owned too date was my 02 Silverado WT. If I could have anything back I think my 55 would be the one that I miss the most. the most. This is back in the late 70s and I was living in Japan at the time. Taking care of a 55 Belair in another country prior to the world of the internet was very difficult. I wish I still had the pictures of it after paint, Black with traditional flames.

1992 Chevy sport

The 92 sport was white and set up just like a 454 SS but with a 350. Mine was a 5 speed manual with bucket seats. Had the goofy 85 mph speedometer and would bury it in 3rd gear.

I wouldn't say my stuff causes me problems. Other than I can't find stuff when I look for it. But if I sold it I really wouldn't be able to find it.

Both. I have a lot of memories with that car, and then I frame off restored it. In 1988 it won "Best Muscle Car, Super Chevy Sunday, Memphis" and "Editors Choice, Super Chevy Magazine, Super Chevy Sunday, Baton Rouge.".

It was as perfect as it was ever going to get, but it wasn't as fun as before I restored it. It ended up on Long Island, NY. The owner used to call me once in while.

His interest got to him and he had to know what was under the tarp. Well then he had to have it and in one of those moments, I sold it. Last time I ever saw it. Not a muscle car but still special.

I have had rare moments where, not wished but, I wondered if I hadn't bought any of the vehicles I had or put all I have into them. I mean, what if I only cared if what I had got me to point A to point B, I didn't have any feelings about vehicles or impressing anyone. Just all about an economic necessity. I'D BE RICH!! But I wouldn't be Tim Hicks, that's for sure

I was really on the fence about selling it. I knew I might regret someday. But with everything going on in the world now, it was the right thing to do. It's some extra cushion for when work slows down with this virus.

Sorry to hear that. There has always been a reason like this for me selling anything. Just can't keep them all. But it hurts to hold onto a truck for so long, be the reason it's surviving so well for so long, then end up being just another one to tell people you had.

I ordered my '92 K3500 SRW to work out of, while seeing it as a classic of the future. I thought of it as finding it 20 years later, like a '72 was at the time, with all the cool option ordered that way. Then, I did own it 22 years. A work truck the whole time but kept up and looking good… 335k on it. The engine blew and it was not economically feasible at that time to stay with that truck as my prime unit. I needed money to fund it's replacement and didn't see putting it on my list of trucks to restore one day as all that sensible. So I unloaded it for chump change and now I wish I had just thrown an old motor in it and not worry about the list of things it needed done that used to bug me. It would have been a perfect one to stash away and do later, original owner factory order truck with unique combination of options... Oh well

In it's final year. Worked it's whole life. In that saddle for 22 years
