Driver side power window regulator

Has anyone ever replaced the power window regulator on a 94 gmc silverado truck? Mine went south on me and was wondering if it's hard to replace. I replaced the switch already so I know its the regulator.

Re: Driver side power window regulator

After removing the interior trim panel you will need to remove the inner metal panel. remove the 7mm screws and one 10 mm bolt disconnect the lock and handle rods and slide the rollers off the window track to remove. The regulator is riveted to the panel unless it has been replaced already. To drill the rivets first use a small drift punch and knock the rivet pins through then drill the rivets with a 1/4 bit. The new regulator can be bolted in but the rivets do work better and will not loosen up. You tube has videos showing how to do it.
The video says to just drill the rivets but they are alluminum with a steel center pin. If the pin is not drivin trough first you will have a hard time drilling the rivets.

Re: Driver side power window regulator

Have to post some pix of your truck when you get a chance. My truck has manual locks and windows so it is a lot easier . I have had these doors apart many times for door handle replacement.

Re: Driver side power window regulator

After watching that video there really isnt a need to pull off that whole panel. Should be able to reach in from the top after removing the 7mm bolts and drilling out the rivets. May have to bend down the tab on the track thats connected to the glass to slide out the 2 wheels.

Re: Driver side power window regulator

I used 1/4 screws with nylon lock nuts on the back, they dont need to be very long. Picked them up at Ace Hardware.

Re: Driver side power window regulator

I finally got to replacing my power window regulator and it wasn't that bad of a project. Took me about 2 hours. Can someone please tell me who sells those dam door panel clips? Dealership maybe?
