I've been asking alot of questions, been for this truck.. Finally got some pics!

This is the truck I've been working on for my daughters first car... She is just getting her license, and this is what she wanted!

It is a 67 C10. It is in decent shape, and looks good from 10 feet. There is a bit of bondo in it, especially the doors. But it is a good one for her, it looks good enough to not be embarrassed by it, but if something happens to it, its not a $20,000 restored truck.

It was a manual trans, and has been switched to an automatic. The manual front drums have been changed to power discs. Been doing a lot of work to this truck!

She gets her license in October, but recently has been pushing to get it going for her first car show. It is at NAPA where my wife works, a local radio station comes in for a broadcast, and it is a small show. Last couple of years there have been like 20 cars, mostly workers and friends. I am taking my Pinto, and my wife has her Chevelle. My daughter really wanted her truck in it this year! I got it going enough to drive it on and off the trailer, so am hauling it down there tonight to leave in the building overnight, and they can drive it to the parking lot tomorrow. The brakes just barely work, and the front end needs alignment as it has all new tie rods, ball joints, and converted from manual steering to power steering. But it moves enough to show, and she is a happy camper!

After the show, I'll haul it back home, and continue working on it. I think the next event she really wants to go to is "Cruise the Gut", a really neat event they have downtown in August. The close off the roads downtown, and cars park on the sides, and are actually allowed to drive around too... This includes drag cars, and others that aren't normally street legal. Neat to not only see, but hear the cars and watch them drive around! So by then, I'm hoping hers is ready to cruise too.

Just wanted to throw out a couple of quick pics, and thank everyone that has been helping answer my questions so far, and continuing to help, as it is still a work in progress!

Reminds me of my Dad's truck (a 910) with the lower molding but no upper. How common or uncommon is it to have just the lower molding? I don't feel like I see it very often...

That's a very cool 67 I hope she learns how too take care of it.

It looks as if the cowl hood fits really well. As most people have problems with the fit.

Dave, 67-68 only had the lower mlg. There was no uppers.

That is a very nice truck, especially for a first ride! Big props to you for getting it ready and making it happen for her!

Nice truck, and a great start for your daughter! Unfortunately the younger kids get, the less interested in these classics they are. I'm nearly 32 and no one my age is interested in them. I'm still considered a "kid" at car shows, so those in their teens and 20's must be toddlers!

Awesome rig! My first car was a 70 Chevy short fleet and probably had a ton of bodo on it but I loved it. Sounds like you raised her right I can only hope my 3 month old daughter will grow to love these trucks as much as me! Congratulations and have fun with the rig

Re: I've been asking alot of questions, been for this truck.. Finally got some pics!

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts! She is a good kid... She has her moments, but I suppose any 15 year old girl does.. lol! She has been raised around hot rods and race cars all her life, and started circle track racing last year. Broke her foot a week before the season started this year, so been concentrating on her truck.

Her first car show last night was a success! I trailered it there, since it isn't quite street ready yet. It was a small show, like 40-50 cars, but it meant the world to her to have HER truck there! I also had my yellow Pinto there, and my wife had her green Chevelle. The whole family was involved!

That's what it's all about. My oldest daughter is 5 and loves being in the garage with me. She's got a lot to learn yet. Your story gives me hope that maybe she will continue to be interested in Dad's hobby!

Thanks for sharing.

Just based purely on car choice, your wife and daughter are WAY cooler than you

Great story and a really nice truck.
My daughter loves older cars much like I do, but due to life, we never were able to get a project going. Now that I am in the final stages of getting my '69 on the road, and she is moving from MD to AZ next week, I think I will be able to make up for some lost time and enjoy some quality father/daughter time.

Re: I've been asking alot of questions, been for this truck.. Finally got some pics!

Lol, yep I'm the odd one out with my Ford! I also have a couple of Pinto wagon projects I would love to V8, and a 71 Mustang straight 6 with a pretty solid body and a 72 with a 351C I would like to combine, but time and money says not yet.....

My wife was a Chevy person for years and years. In the last few years, we got a couple of Dodge trucks for our daily driving, and on the track we still run V8 Chevys but have also gotten hardcore into Dodge Neon fwd racing... lol! So pretty much anything American now is good.

My biggest fear was my daughter coming home and saying, "Dad, I really want a Honda!"
